Kirsten Baldock is a librarian and the Special Projects Director/bartender at Isotope – the comic book lounge in San Francisco. She is also the author of Smoke and Guns, an original graphic novel illustrated by Fabio Moon and published by AiT/PlanetLar. She harbors a deep and abiding love of red lipstick, high heels, and champagne cocktails.
Coincidentally, Kirsten’s first drink was a Brandy Old-Fashioned bought for her at the tender age of eight by her mother.

Smoke & Guns, AiT/Planet Lar
“With cigarettes, guns and girls, the only thing this hilarious romp
is missing is the rock and roll. Baldock tells a story of Scarlett, a
cigarette girl so tough she starts and finishes ganglike territory
disputes the only way she knows how: with guns and explosions. Sly and
sexy (thanks to terrific inky art from Brazil’s Fabio Moon), this is a
quick read that elicits howls of over-the-top laughter. While not the
deepest and most satisfying read ever, it’s cool enough that you’ll
still want a smoke afterward even if it kills you. Grade: A”
~ Tom McLean, Variety“Smoke and Guns is the debut graphic novel of Kirsten Baldock, and
with any luck, we’ll be seeing a lot more of her, because Baldock
writes macho action-adventure with a feminine twist like nobody’s
business, and Smoke and Guns offers up an adrenaline rush alongside
belly laughs and some characters you can root for even though (or
maybe because) they’re arrogant, destructive and dangerous.”
~ Randy Lander, Fourth Rail“The main character, Scarlett, sells overpriced cigarettes, stirs up
shit with other gangs of cigarette girls and pretty much ends said
gang war single-handedly. I would marry her if she would have me. Oh,
wait … she’s a cartoon character.”
