Emily Stackhouse is a firm believer that the world of comics is open to everyone. She also believes that there should be as much love and support in this industry as there is spandex and cleavage. Dubbing this theory “The Brotherhood of Comics”, she feels that we must all come together for the thing we live and die for: Graphica. Whether it’s her collection of Fleer Ultra X-men card decks or the highest of high-brow graphic novels, it’s got a place in her heart.
Although comics, and drawing them, have been a lifelong obsession for Emily it wasn’t until recently she discovered that she had to MAKE comics to MAKE IT in comics.
Emily and her husband Nicholas, have just completed their first full length comic: Miners Mutiny. It’s the first of a series, the story of a small gold mining town right after the Gold Rush. The gold’s gone, but there’s plenty of idle hands and TNT lying around… things might blow up.
They also have a mini comic, Brazilianoir which is the winner of the 2009 Stumptown ComicsFest Award for the DIY category.
