Lend a Hand to Your Extended Comics Family

David Pirkola, a comics retailer in Grand Rapids Michigan, is in stable but critical condition after being shot during a robbery in his store.

The wonderful folks at iFanboy have set up a fund to help David with his medical bills as he was uninsured. As a person who spends a fair amount of time behind the counter of a comic book store, this is a very important cause to me. I hope that you will consider doing what you can to help our extended comics family.

You can contribute to the cause by clicking here.

Matt Silady: Eisner Nominee

Congratulations to Matt Silady who has been nominated for an Eisner Award, the comic industry’s most prestigious honor!

I think it is obvious from the moment that anyone meets Matt that he is a guy who is just bursting with talent. And his excellent book, The Homeless Channel, is further proof that he’s really going places. So I was overjoyed, but not at all surprised, to hear that the Eisner committee also feels that Matt’s work deserves Special Recognition.

Watch out, comic industry! He’s only getting better!
