Stumptown: It’s Always About Comicbook Love

Phew! Well, we’re back from Stumptown Comics Fest 2011, and it was a blast, as always!

The show was AWESOME! Greg Hinkle, Stephenny Godfrey, myself (Emily) and my husband Nicholas were all slinging our wares in true Writers Old Fashioned style.  Greg was promoting his horror anthology and WOF collaboration, Parasomnia (with stories by STORM, Jason McNamara and Matt Silday). Steph was rocking her brand new mini comic, Two Buses. Two Buses is the sequel to her award-winning Panorama, measuring 15ft in length, it’s 2ft longer than the first!  Nicholas and I were ECSTATIC to be debuting our first full length comic, Miners Mutiny! Now on sale in fine San Francisco establishments. Justin Hall was over at the Prism booth in it’s unfortunately, undesirable location (in front of the ladies room) where he was working his amazing new Glamazonia book!

Keep your hands on your holsters and don’t be jumping no claims. Here we have folks, a nugget of what’s to come this October at the 2010 Alternative Press Expo.

Miners Mutiny, the first full-length comic book of the forthcoming trilogy, is the story of a man looking for trouble in a small gold mining town where no one has anything better to do.

Loaded with TNT, wild women, and plenty of whiskey to keep your whistle whetted!

Yeeeeeee HAW!

But they’re certainly something.

Hi Ho! Just sweating over a panel and feeling extremely unproductive tonight.  I finished a whopping 2 panels today! That’s one more than one and one less than NOT ENOUGH!

Anywho, I’m sitting here staring at what little work I did do, and I start Continue Reading »

It’s a Miracle Anything Ever Gets Done

And I don’t mean that to sound depressing.  Let me clarify…

I am having a particularly hard time starting a new project (and instead of working on said project, here I am writing a blog post, see?)

I won’t use the term writer’s block, or artist’s block or whatever verbiage is used to describe this happenstance.  We all know Continue Reading »

Brazilianoir!  That’s right, you heard it here first (or maybe here).  Emily Stackhouse and Nicholas Shahan’s  first mini comic, Brazilianoir, brought home the gold for Outstanding D.I.Y. at Stumptown Comics Fest 2009.

Thank you Portland for sharing your love!

Stumptown 2009. It’s that time of year again, when the fine city of Portland, Oregon, opens it’s arms to the world of comics! The city has even dubbed the month of April, Comic Month, how cool is that?

This is something that Writers Old Fashioned wouldn’t miss for the world. So we’re packing up our wares and heading up North. Also, check out fellow Old Fashioned Writer, Jason McNamara’s Trophy Award nomination for Outstanding Small Press.  And please, look out for us. Stop by booth 85 and say hi, will ya?
